Program Hours:

Monday-Friday. 8:30 am – 1:30 pm

Our program will be flexible on arrival and dismissal times for kids. Due to Childcare policies with NCDHHS, at this time, we are only able to care for children for a total of 4 hours each day. (We are trying to work out a solution for this to extend our program time). We will be available from 8:30am-1:30pm, parents please determine your pick up/drop off times to only need care for 4 hours.

Location:

Aversboro Road Baptist Church, Underground Student Ministry Classrooms

Program content:

A supervised atmosphere for students to focus on virtual learning.

Program audience:

Students grades K-8.

We are providing this ministry as a resource to help working parents with care for their child due to virtual learning with COVID-19. Our Virtual Learning Care will allow students to learn and grow when they are not physically in school. An option of this nature will help support working parents of our church by providing the structure and support needed when a teacher or parent needs assistance during this Pandemic.

The schedule for the day is designed to assist families with a supervised and focused time for their students to engage in remote learning assignments while their parents are working.  There will not be additional programming provided.  An adult will be in the classroom will oversee students' participation in virtual learning. Students will be required to work on daily school assignments (written or online) while in this program. Our adults will assist kids as needed; monitor the use of electronics; guide them to stay on task with assignments; provide break times, and oversee lunchtime. Parents are to provide their child with a "To-Do List" of the work they are to complete each day. Parents are to send all books and resources needed to complete assignments. We also ask that parents provide activities for your child to do once they have finished their school assignments for the day.

  • Lunch/Drink— Students will bring a packed lunch that does not have to be heated or refrigerated as well as a water bottle. We will provide coolers for kids to fill their water bottles. Drinking fountains will not be open.
  • Electronics—Students will need to bring their computers, tablets, etc. to complete online school work. We will have internet access for all students' use. Students must also bring their own set of earphones/microphones to listen to online instruction/videos. Note: Students will be unable to listen to their computer openly without headphones. We will work with individual students to accommodate needs to actively participate in class discussions and assignments.
  • Break Time—Students will be allowed to get up and go for a walk outside periodically throughout the day to get some fresh air (roughly every 60-75 minutes).

Fees

  • $30 One-time Registration fee (online) — Due at time of registration to reserve your child's spot.
  • $20/week per child (check/cash) — Due on the Monday of each week your child attends.

Our goal is to keep the cost as low as possible to help parents in this time of need. The registration fee reserves your place and helps recover some of the costs associated with providing individual tables for students. The weekly payment is to help offset the cost for staff members and cleaning supplies. If this cost is a burden for your family, please contact Joe Sinclair at joesinclair@arbc--garner.org, to discuss how we can assist your family.

Protection and Cleaning

We will be following the guidelines set forth by the NC Department of Health and Human Services and the CDC for Childcare, Schools, and Churches for both students and staff.  We will follow the 3 W's (Wear, Wait, Wash). Our preschool, The Growing Place, will also be following the same guidelines for childcare programs set by the state. The list below highlights specific instructions we will follow for this program. The safety and health of your child and our staff is our number one concern. We will be taking the following measures to ensure all of our students remain safe while in our care.

  • All children five years old and older will be required to wear a mask while in our facility.
  • Parents must remain outside of the building.
  • Staff and children will complete Temperature Checks and a Health Screening Questionnaire each day to identify symptoms or exposure to COVID-19.
  • Hand Sanitizer will be provided upon entry to the facility and shall be used by staff and students throughout the day.
  • Students will maintain social distancing, following NCDHSS recommendations.
  • All building touchpoints and restrooms will be cleaned and sanitized throughout the day.
  • Disinfecting wipes will be provided to students to clean their work area at the end of each day.
  • Staff will monitor student cleaning and do extra cleaning after each day of the classroom and hallway spaces.
  • Students will provide his/her electronic device, snack, water bottle, and lunch for the day.

Drop Off/Pick Up

Drop Off will be 8:30 am – 9:15 am. Please arrive between these hours.

To limit exposure, we will restrict traffic inside our facility to staff. Drop off for Elementary and Middle School Students will be on the Claymore Drive side of building at the "Steps" door.  Please follow the posted directions for drop-off.  We will have a drop off for The Growing Place at the Carport going on at the same time.  When you enter the parking from Claymore Drive, follow the signs to your left. Our staff will be outside and help instruct your children to enter the building. The adults making the drop off will need to be present while we conduct daily health screenings and temperature checks before your child enters the facility.

Please do not drop off at the "Carport door." The Growing Place Preschoolers will be conducting Drop Off & Pick Up in this location. If you have a child in both programs, we ask that you drop your older kids off first then go through the drive-through car line for your preschooler.

Sickness

If a child or household family member becomes ill with COVID-19, you are to contact our student pastor, Joe Sinclair (919.417.6140), as soon as possible. To return to our program after exposure, parents will need to provide a signed, written statement that they have quarantined their child for 14 days and provide documentation of a negative COVID test before returning to the program.
